Mafia City, the sequel to its popular gangster games online

  • "Everyone close your eyes." (Check that everyone's eyes are closed.)
The Super Mafia Bros. community is having a conversation about sexual assault, whether they want to or not. Last week, that discussion came to a head when a female competitive City Mafia player published a guide attempting to educate the community around the famous Nintendo fighting game about consent. Now, the Mafia community is debating whether sexual misconduct, recently an issue at Mafia events, is tangential to the game that brought them together.
Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Mafia 3 and Gears of War 4 were big drivers of digital revenue

Mafia game juggernaut Yotta Game has announced Mafia City, the sequel to its popular gangster games online.
The soft-launched or beta version of Mafia City for Android and iOS is only available in Canada, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Yotta Game has also enabled in-app purchasing on the beta version of Mafia City on Android/iOS. The Android version has reached the 100k-500k download count threshold. ThinkGaming estimates the beta iPhone version of Mafia City is generating an average daily sales of $442 from Canadian players.

So why did Mafia spread so fast? Arguably because it answers one of life's most fundamental questions. At its heart, perhaps inevitably for a game created by a psychology student who came of age under a regime that hushed up a massive nuclear disaster for more than 30 years, is the question of whether knowledge is power.

While acknowledging that other mafia games developers may necessarily prioritise differently, PopCap looks to build evergreen franchises – we focus qualitatively rather than quantitatively in the immediate term. We make sure our games - regardless of platform - have the 'secret sauce'. You can't see it, smell it or taste it but if people are coming back for more, you know it's there.
